Changing Seasons

As summer winds to an end and we move to the fall season, it won’t be long before we start to see the signs of the fall season; shortened days, tree leaves changing colors, etc. The change of seasons can be an exciting time if we know what to expect and it can also be unsettling if we are unsure of what lies ahead. As schools reopen and many return to work, we are faced with tough decisions. Sometimes even with our best efforts to remain positive, we are constantly bombarded with negative news that influences our decisions. The question is: how do we remain at peace with all the changes around us? How do we remain confident? What is our confidence based on?

Here are two thoughts to ponder;

1. The consistency of the earth's seasons is a reflection of God and the steadiness of His character. The Bible shows us that experiencing good and bad times in our lives is normal and to be expected. Eccl 3:1 says: “To everything there is a season A time for every purpose under heaven.” Genesis 8:22 also says: “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”

2. God is with us in every season of our life. When we face the unknown, we can trust that He is in control and working out every situation for our good. Jesus promised us in John 16: 33 that: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Our peace and confidence amid changing seasons and the circumstances of life can only be found in a relationship with God. Temporary peace is achievable through several means, but perfect peace is only found in placing our trust in God. “You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 NIV”

To enjoy Gods peace; accept Jesus Christ alone as your savior. You can claim God’s promise for Salvation right now. “… if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”. Romans 10:9. Pray this simple prayer:

Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. I receive your peace and unending love. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.
