Jesus makes this powerful, life changing and extraordinary offer to all who will listen. He is calling all and everyone, no one is exempt. He is calling you if you are tired and sick of being tired. He is calling you if you are burdened by life’s pressures and demands, And He promises to give you rest.
We all face times in our lives when we are weary (tired) of it all. Tired of seemingly endless challenges, tired of struggling to make ends meet, tired of not measuring up, tired of always being behind and struggling to get ahead. Sometimes we place burdens on ourselves or are burdens others place them on us. Does it always feel like there is something to worry about? Jesus offers us rest which the world cannot offer.
Jesus call is to come to Him, to lay all our burdens, cares and concerns on Him. “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.” (1 Peter 5:7). When we cast something off, we hand it over, it is no longer our concern. It is in this vein that Jesus is asking us to lay down or burdens and cares at His feet because He will take them off us and replace them with His peace which transcends all human understanding (Philippians 4:7)
You can enjoy this peace and fulfilment that Jesus gives when you place your trust in Him. God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you, however, our short comings and failings hinder us from knowing God or experiencing His love. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin. Through Him we can know God personally, experience God's love and begin a new life. Jesus extends this invitation to everyone. 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun”. Embrace the gift of Jesus by receiving Him into your life and enjoy the peace He gives.
To place your trust in God; accept Jesus Christ alone as your Savior. Pray this simple prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you for making it possible for me to find peace with God. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. I receive your peace and unending love. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.
