At thanksgiving, many take time to give thanks for good health, safety and provision. There were times this year when we felt we were in control, and other times when we felt we were not. Harvard Health research, shows that gratitude can make us happier people, feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. Having an attitude of gratitude allows us take our minds off our problems and think about all the many ways we have been blessed.

Gratitude brings us contentment. We are not envious of what others have, when we are completely grateful, there is no room left in our hearts for envy. Gratitude also gives us peace because we no longer focus on our struggles but are thankful for our blessings. The Bible says in Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”

It is very easy to get overwhelmed with life and forget to see the goodness of God in our lives. We must consciously imbibe a lifestyle of gratitude. Psalm 68:19 “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits,…” We have a loving Father who knows how to give good gifts to His children and to be part of that blessing, you must know Him and experience Him as your Lord and Savior. Galatians 3:14 “He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

This thanksgiving, as we gather with family and friends to celebrate, let us show gratitude to God by accepting the gift of Jesus Christ, who died to draw us closer to God.

To place your trust in God; accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. Pray this simple prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank you for making it possible for me to find peace with God. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. I receive your peace and unending love. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.
