Every new the season brings with it its own challenges, opportunities, and fears. For some seasons like the summer, we eagerly look forward to enjoying the warm summer days outdoors. In the fall, the trees smell differently, the warm leaf colours often evoke feelings of happiness and optimism, such that we are left to soak in the beauty of God’s creation. For other seasons, we reluctantly accept that the change is inevitable and may even dread its arrival.
As we roll into the fall months and kids return to school, our minds could once again we filled with thoughts of fear, anxiety, or concern. There are concerns about the rising cases of COVID variant cases (even among vaccinated people), the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan or anxiety about the upcoming elections. Whatever it is, this constant change of emotions from feeling good to not so good is not unique to anyone person, but very common. However, there is a better way to live
We must place our confidence in God and trust that He will take care of everything around us. Our fears may be valid, but the word of God is true and greater than our fears. God promises in Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
He also says in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
We can choose not to allow fear and anxiety to control our lives but believe and focus our mind on God who is the only constant in life. We may not be in control, but we can trust the Holy One who is always in control. God has got us covered.
As we begin the beautiful fall season, let our fears fall and let our faith rise.
To overcome fear; accept Jesus Christ alone as your Savior. Pray this simple prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you for making it possible for me to find peace with God. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. I receive your peace and unending love. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.
